Jeep Compass Audio Dead After Oil Change Service

I experienced this exact issue. My Compass had complete radio silence after routine maintenance too. The USB audio and Bluetooth connectivity were both dead, just like yours. Had the same symptoms where no sound came from any source. Based on what they found, the sound distortion started when some wiring got loose during the oil change. Mine ended up just needing a simple reconnection of the wiring harness. Did you get yours fixed yet? How much did the repair cost? Just wondering if any other electrical gremlins popped up since then, sometimes these issues can be related to other systems.

Thanks for the update about your Compass. Yes, I got my Cherokee fixed about 2 weeks ago. The initial diagnosis matched yours, loose wiring after maintenance work. However, during the inspection they found a defective Bass speaker that was also causing sound quality issues I hadnt noticed before. The total repair came to 280 Euro for replacing the faulty speaker and securing all the connections properly. Since the fix, the audio system works perfectly, full sound output through all sources. No more Bluetooth issues or radio silence problems. The volume control and USB audio connections are all functioning normally now. No other electrical problems have surfaced. Make sure they thoroughly test all audio inputs after repair to confirm everything is working as it should.

Just got back from the mechanic and wanted to close this thread. The repair was straightforward and cost 95 Euro for labor. The car speakers are working perfectly now. Turns out the radio silence was caused by a simple wiring issue, just as suspected. The mechanic showed me how the main harness connector had worked loose during the oil change when they were replacing the cabin filter. They secured all audio connectivity points and double-checked the auxiliary input and Bluetooth function. The whole repair took about an hour. They tested every sound source before returning the car, regular radio, phone connection, and USB audio all work great now. No more problems with the sound system and no other electrical issues have shown up. Much cheaper fix than I feared, and now I know what to check first if this happens again. Thanks everyone for the help pinpointing the problem.

Had the same audio connectivity issue with my 2018 Jeep Cherokee diesel last month. After an oil change visit, the radio silence was complete, no sound from any source including auxiliary input and Bluetooth. The problem traced back to the main volume control module which got disconnected during routine maintenance. The wiring harness behind the radio unit had come loose when the mechanic was accessing the cabin filter. This is typically not a serious issue, though it can seem alarming when you suddenly lose all audio output. The fix required removing the center console trim and reconnecting the main harness to the sound system control unit. The amplifier and speakers were perfectly fine. A proper diagnosis should include checking: Main power connection to the radio unit, Volume control module connections, Ground wire connections, Fuse box for blown audio system fuses Worth mentioning that if basic reconnections dont solve it, the issue could be the amplifier module, but thats less common with these Jeep models. Best to have it checked soon since modern vehicle systems often integrate warning chimes and safety alerts through the main audio system.
