Thanks for sharing your experience with the Compass. My Renegade issue was fixed last month and it turned out very similar to yours, faulty car lighting connections and a bad light switch module. The car switch replacement and rewiring job sorted out all the unusual light activations. Quick question, do you recall roughly what the repair cost you? Mine set me back 380 Euro for parts and labor. Also curious if youve had any other electrical gremlins pop up since the fix? I keep checking my fuse box weekly just to be safe.

Glad you got your Renegade fixed. My repair actually came in much cheaper at 95 Euro since the automotive switch issue turned out to be just a faulty connection rather than needing a complete replacement like yours. The mechanic traced it to a loose cable and corroded plug at the dimmer switch, which was causing those unusual light activations. No other electrical problems since the light switch repair, and its been running perfectly for over 18 months now. The weekly fuse box checks are smart, but honestly since getting the faulty connection fixed, my headlight switch and all other lighting controls have worked flawlessly. The key was finding a mechanic who properly diagnosed the exact connection issue rather than just replacing parts. Makes sense your bill was higher if they had to swap the entire module. Sometimes you get lucky and its just a connection problem like in my case, rather than needing new components.

Got my Renegade back from the shop today after dealing with the electrical issues for a few months. Like many suggested, it was indeed the wiring causing problems with the automotive switch system. The dashboard lights would out of nowhere turn on at first, which was pretty annoying, but then the headlight switch started acting up too. Took it to my regular mechanic who found some corroded connections near the fuse box. They had to replace the entire light switch module plus rewire several connections. Total cost came to 380 Euro, which wasnt cheap but at least its fixed now. The tail lights and all other lighting controls are working perfectly. The interesting part was how they found the issue, apparently moisture had gotten into the switch housing over time. Makes me wonder if other Renegade owners are having similar problems. Definitely keeping an eye on the fuse box, but so far everything is working as it should. Thanks for all the helpful advice here. Really helped me understand what I was dealing with before heading to the shop.

Had a similar issue with my 2016 Jeep Compass diesel. The dashboard lights started flickering out of nowhere and the headlight switch began malfunctioning. After thorough diagnostics, the problem was traced to corroded wiring connectors behind the dimmer switch assembly. The main culprit was moisture penetration into the connector housing, causing intermittent electrical contact. The repair required replacing the entire light switch module and rewiring several connections. This is actually a known weak point in these models. Some key points from my repair experience: Error codes pointed to circuit interruption in the lighting system, Dimmer switch showed inconsistent voltage readings, Several wire terminals needed cleaning and resealing, The headlight switch assembly had to be completely replaced This was not a quick fix, the electrical system needed comprehensive testing to isolate the fault. The dashboard lights and tail lights would out of nowhere activate due to the faulty connections. While not immediately dangerous, these electrical issues should be addressed promptly to prevent more serious problems with the vehicle lighting system. The repair took about 4 hours at the shop, and they needed specialized diagnostic equipment to properly test all circuits.
