Jeep Renegade Radio Dead: FM Signal & Audio Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Jeep Renegade Hybrid experienced issues with the infotainment system, including weak radio signal strength and no audio, accompanied by error messages and stored error codes. Possible causes identified include a damaged antenna wire, corroded antenna base, faulty antenna booster module, or poor ground connection. Solutions suggested involve inspecting and potentially replacing the antenna assembly, reconnecting ground wiring, and checking the antenna booster circuit. Prompt attention to these issues is advised to prevent further electrical complications.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the Compass. I had this exact problem with my 2020 Renegade, static noise, error codes, and poor car radio reception. Fixed it about 6 months ago and thankfully no other issues since then. Can you remember what the total repair cost was for your car? Mine needed a new signal amplifier and some wiring work, curious to compare prices. Also wondering if youve had any other electrical gremlins pop up since the repair?

The repair bill came to 255 Euro for my Compass, which included replacing the defective antenna and resolving the ground connection issues. Since the fix, the car radio performance has been perfect with strong signal strength across all stations. The vehicle electronics have remained stable with no additional problems. The signal amplifier and antenna ground repairs completely resolved those frustrating static noises and error messages. Initially, I was concerned about potential recurring issues, but the car radio system has worked flawlessly for over 8 months now. Sounds like your repair involved more extensive work with the signal amplifier replacement. These electrical fixes can vary in cost depending on the specific components affected, but addressing them promptly helps prevent more complex issues from developing.

Thanks everyone for the input. Took my Renegade to a certified shop last week and got it sorted. The mechanic found the car radio issues stemmed from a damaged antenna wire that was causing poor signal strength. The total repair came to 320 Euro, which included fixing the ground connection and replacing some corroded wiring. The fix was actually simpler than expected. They had it done in about 3 hours. Vehicle electronics are all working perfectly now, no more error codes or static. The signal strength is much better than before, even picking up stations I couldnt get previously. Much better experience than my last repair shop visit. The mechanic took time to explain the antenna ground issue and showed me the damaged parts. Good to have this resolved before it caused problems with other systems.

Had similar issues with my 2019 Jeep Compass Hybrid. The antenna ground connection was causing poor signal strength and complete audio loss. Static noise became noticeable first, then the system started showing error codes. After inspection, the problem traced back to three potential sources: Corroded antenna base affecting vehicle electronics, Damaged antenna cable harness, Faulty antenna booster module The repair involved replacing the antenna assembly and reconnecting the ground wiring. This resolved both the signal issues and error codes. While not a major mechanical problem, leaving it unfixed can lead to complete entertainment system failure and potential electrical system complications. A certified shop should diagnose this quickly with proper testing equipment. The repair is straightforward but requires specific knowledge of Jeep electrical systems. Have them check the antenna booster circuit and ground connections first, as these are common failure points in Jeep models. Advice: get it checked soon, as weak signals often indicate a developing electrical issue that could affect other systems.
