Juke Stalling at Idle
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Nissan Juke with 130,167 km is experiencing stalling at idle, especially when cold, and an intermittent check engine light indicating an idle air control (IAC) valve malfunction. The issue is suspected to be caused by a heavily contaminated intake. Cleaning the throttle body was suggested as a potential solution, but the problem persisted, leading to the replacement of the IAC valve, which resolved the issue.

Good point about the throttle body; I hadn't considered that specifically. I'll definitely give that a look. As for the error code, it's P0505 - Idle Air Control System Malfunction. Does the throttle body cleaning usually solve this, or is it more likely I'll need to replace the IAC valve regardless?

P0505 does indeed point directly to the IAC system. While cleaning the throttle body is a worthwhile preventative measure, the presence of that specific code, combined with the stalling, suggests the IAC valve itself is the primary culprit. Given the mileage and symptoms, I would advise consulting a qualified technician to properly diagnose and address the issue. Replacement might be necessary.

Thanks for the advice. I cleaned the throttle body, but the problem persisted. Ended up taking it to a shop, and you were right; it was the IAC valve. Heavily contaminated intake, as suspected. Total repair cost was 425€. Runs like a charm now!

Interesting. Stalling at idle and an IAC valve error certainly point in that direction. However, before condemning the valve itself, have you inspected the throttle body for carbon buildup? A dirty throttle body can mimic IAC valve problems. Also, what specific error code are you retrieving from the error memory?
