Jumper Bypass Valve Error Overheating

I'm experiencing an odd issue with my 2005 Citroen Jumper diesel. The engine's throwing an error code related to the bypass valve, and I'm also seeing intermittent overheating. The van has 149598 km on it. I've checked the valve itself, and it seems mechanically sound. Could this be a consequential error resulting from something else? I have no stalling issues or power loss.

Interesting. I've had a similar problem with my Jumper. Same bypass valve error and overheating, too. Did you check the exhaust system? I am assuming the bypass valve is electrically controlled, so could be also an electrical fault such as a corroded connector.

Thanks for the quick response. I did a visual inspection of the exhaust system, didn't spot anything obvious - no cracks or leaks. Where exactly should I focus my attention regarding the exhaust? And regarding the connector, where is that located? I checked the main harness but did not look deeply into the electrics.

On mine, the problem was further down the exhaust system towards the rear; the connector sits right next to it. But honestly, with those symptoms, it’s tricky to diagnose without proper tools. If you're not seeing anything obvious, I'd suggest getting it checked by a workshop. They'll have the diagnostic equipment to pinpoint the root cause.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. Took it to the workshop, as you suggested, and you were right, it was indeed a faulty sensor further down the exhaust that triggered the bypass valve error as a consequential error. The replacement fixed the overheating issue as well. The valve itself was perfectly fine. Repair cost 0€ - warranty covered it.
