Contaminated how? What exactly did you see on your Opel, and was it definitely the air valve?

My mechanic mentioned the throttle body was really dirty, gunked up with oil and dirt. He suspected it was messing with the airflow, causing the engine to stall. It wasn't just the valve itself, but everything around it. I'd suggest a workshop visit.

Thanks for the tip. Indeed, the intake was heavily contaminated, and the idle air control valve was bad. Repair cost 425€

Sounds familiar. I had similar stalling issues with my old Opel Corsa. Though it wasn't the same model year, it might be related. Was the air intake heavily contaminated in your case?
