Jumper Overheating

I'm having trouble with my 2000 Citroen Jumper with a gasoline engine. It has 185367 km on it. I suspect a defective thermostat cooling circuit motor. The engine is overheating and taking a long time to reach operating temperature. I've checked for coolant leaks, but everything seems dry. I'm leaning towards a defective map thermostat. Any ideas?

I also drive a Jumper, and I had similar symptoms a while ago. Overheating is never good! Did you notice if the temperature gauge fluctuates wildly, or does it just climb steadily? Also, have you checked the coolant level recently? That might also give you a clue.

Thanks for the quick reply! The temperature gauge climbs steadily, it doesn't fluctuate at all. The coolant level seems to be fine though. If you had a similar problem, was it indeed the map thermostat? And how much did the repair cost you?

Yes, in my case, it turned out to be the map thermostat indeed. If the gauge is climbing steadily and the coolant level is ok, it pretty much confirms it. I would suggest you should go to a workshop and let them check it. As I remember, the repair set me back around 350€.

Thanks a lot for confirming! I really appreciate your help. I'll take it to the workshop and have them replace the map thermostat. Hopefully, that will solve the problem. Thanks again!
