Jumper Weak Start Flickering Lights

Hi, I've got a 2023 Citroen Jumper with a diesel engine and around 38k kilometers on the clock. Recently, the engine seems a bit weak when starting, and the lights occasionally flicker or appear dim, especially at idle. I ran a diagnostic and it's pointing towards a bad battery sensor. I've checked the battery voltage, connections, and everything seems physically fine. Could a faulty sensor really cause such noticeable problems, or am I missing something obvious? I'm trying to avoid unnecessary repairs, but this is becoming a pain. Anyone else had this issue?

Hey! I had something similar happen with my Jumper. Weak starting and flickering lights, huh? Sounds familiar. Did you check the battery charge level with a multimeter, or just the voltage? Sometimes, even with a good voltage reading, the battery can be internally damaged and not hold a proper charge. Are you getting any other error codes besides the battery sensor one? It's worth double-checking before you just swap the sensor. Could be something else drawing excessive current and making the sensor throw a false positive. What do you think?

Thanks for the reply! I did check the voltage with a multimeter, and it seemed normal, around 12.6V at rest and 14.2V when the engine's running. But you're right, I didn't do a proper load test to check the amperage under heavy draw. No other error codes besides the battery sensor one, though. So, you're saying a faulty sensor could be a red herring? If you had the same symptoms, what eventually fixed it for you?

Alright, 12.6V at rest and 14.2V when running sounds about right. The load test is key, though. In my case, yes, it was indeed the battery sensor giving false readings! The symptoms were almost identical to yours. I was hesitant to just replace the sensor at first, but after confirming the battery itself was healthy, that was the culprit. So if you already checked the battery and don't find any issues with the amperage, I'd take it to a workshop and ask for a diagnostic from someone who knows their stuff.

You were spot on! Took it to a local garage, they confirmed the battery was fine and replaced the battery sensor. Symptoms are gone! Cost me around 315€, which is annoying but worth it to have it sorted. Thanks for the advice!
