Jumpy Radio Antenna Defect

Hi, I'm having a strange issue with the radio in my 2007 Citroen Jumpy diesel. The infotainment system keeps throwing error messages, and sometimes the audio just cuts out completely. There's also an error stored in the vehicle's memory related to the radio. I suspect it might be antenna related perhaps a defective antenna? Has anyone else experienced something similar with their Jumpy or another vehicle?

Summary of the thread

The issue with the 2007 Citroen Jumpy's radio involved error messages and audio cutouts, suspected to be related to a defective antenna. The problem was exacerbated by electrical interference when using other components like wipers. A suggestion was made to check the antenna base for grounding issues, which was confirmed as the cause. Replacing the defective antenna resolved the issue, restoring the radio's functionality.

Sounds like a grounding issue, possibly with the antenna. Check the antenna base for corrosion or loose connections. It's like a dodgy earth wire on an old amplifier signal goes haywire. Is the static noise constant, or does it worsen when using electrical components like the wipers or heater?

Thanks for the suggestion. The static seems to get worse when I use things like the wipers, and even the indicator sometimes seems to affect it. Where exactly should I be looking for this 'antenna base', and how would I go about checking the ground?

The antenna base is where the antenna physically mounts to the roof or bodywork. Test the ground connection with a multimeter for continuity. Given the electrical interference you describe, my initial suspicion of a ground issue is confirmed. It's likely beyond a simple fix. I suggest you locate a workshop with experience in vehicle electronics.

Thanks. I took your advice and had a local shop look at it. Turns out the antenna was indeed defective, causing all sorts of grounding problems. Replacing it cost me 255€, but the radio is working perfectly again now.
