Jumpy Rail Pressure Sensor Issue

Good shout on the wiring, I'll give that a look tomorrow. I'm using a decent scanner that gives live data. At idle, the rail pressure seems erratic, jumping around more than it should. Under load it doesn't seem to get up to where it should be either. If it's erratic do you think that points more directly at the sensor?

Erratic readings and low pressure under load definitely points towards a failing sensor. Though it's wise to rule out wiring issues first, the sensor itself is the prime suspect given the symptoms and the error code. Given your van's age and mileage, I'd lean towards replacing it. While it might be tempting to DIY, I'd suggest getting it checked out by a workshop to be on the safe side.

Thanks a bunch for the help. You were spot on! Checked the wiring, all seemed fine. Bit the bullet and took it to a local shop. They confirmed it was the rail pressure sensor. 240€ later and she's running like new again. Appreciate the advice!

Faulty rail pressure sensors are a pain. Have you checked the wiring and connectors to the sensor itself? A loose or corroded connection can mimic a sensor failure. What diagnostic tool are you using to read the error code? Sometimes a generic reader can be vague. Can you see live data from the sensor, and if so, what readings are you getting at idle and under load?
