Jumpy Stalling At Idle

That's helpful, thanks. By 'contaminated intake', do you mean specifically the throttle body area, or further upstream as well? I'm assuming cleaning the throttle body is the first port of call?

Yes, I meant the throttle body area specifically. Carbon buildup there restricts airflow and affects the IACV's ability to properly regulate idle speed. Cleaning it is a good first step, but if the problem persists after a thorough cleaning, the IACV itself might be the culprit. In my experience, if cleaning does not resolve the issue, replacing the valve at a workshop is needed.

Understood. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. I had the intake professionally cleaned and the idle air control valve replaced. Seems like there was heavy contamination indeed. Repair cost me 425€, but the engine runs smoothly now.

Hello, I own a Citroen Jumpy too, though I don't know the exact year. Your symptoms do sound like a faulty idle air control valve (IACV). Stalling and idle speed issues are classic signs. Before replacing it, inspect the air intake and especially the throttle body. A heavily contaminated intake can cause the IACV to malfunction. The IACV regulates the amount of air that bypasses the throttle plate when the throttle is closed, thereby controlling the idle speed.
