Thanks for the tip! Where exactly should I be looking for this cable and plug connection? Is it easy to access, or do I need to take a bunch of stuff apart?

On my Volvo, it was a right pain to get to. I had to remove the scuttle panel under the windshield to access the wiper motor and the wiring loom. I’d say check for any corrosion or loose connections, as the likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection. Honestly, unless you're confident with car electrics, it might be worth getting a workshop to take a look. It could save you a lot of hassle. I spent hours fiddling with mine before giving in!

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a local workshop, and you were spot on. It was a corroded connector. They cleaned it up and the wipers are working again. Cost me 95€.

That sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old Volvo V70 a few years back. The wipers went completely dead, and it turned out to be a faulty connection in the wiring loom near the wiper motor. Have you checked the cable and plug connections? Give them a wiggle and see if anything happens. Also, my problem was causing turn signal issues, rain sensor malfunctions and cruise control disfunction.
