Kadjar boost pressure fault

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2021 Renault Kadjar gasoline. It's got about 206k km on the clock. Recently, the check engine light popped on, and I've noticed a significant drop in performance. The engine feels sluggish, especially when accelerating, and my fuel consumption has definitely gone up. I suspect it might be a boost pressure control fault. I've checked for any obvious leaks and the usual suspects, but no luck so far. Anyone experienced something similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Renault Kadjar with 206,000 km experienced a check engine light, reduced performance, and increased fuel consumption, suspected to be a boost pressure control fault. The issue was linked to a potential problem with the vacuum switching valve, a common cause of boost pressure irregularities. After consulting a professional, the vacuum switching valve was identified as the culprit and repaired, resolving the issue.

Greetings. I recall encountering a comparable predicament with my Kadjar. If I may inquire, have you discerned any occurrences of turbo lag or compressor surge concomitant with the diminution of engine power? Furthermore, a diagnostic assessment of the boost solenoid and bypass valve functionality could prove enlightening in ascertaining the underlying etiology of the pressure drop.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't specifically checked for turbo lag or compressor surge, but the sluggishness definitely feels like it could be related. Can you elaborate on the boost solenoid and bypass valve checks? Is there a specific procedure I should follow?

Affirmative. The concurrence of symptoms you delineate strongly suggests a potential compromise in the vacuum switching valve's operational integrity, a common cause for boost pressure irregularities. While a detailed diagnostic protocol is beyond the scope of this discussion, I would advise consulting a qualified automotive technician for a comprehensive evaluation. It may be judicious to consider professional intervention to preclude potential exacerbation of the issue. For me it was a defect in a vacuum switching valve.

Thanks a lot for your help! I took it to the workshop. You were right, it was indeed the vacuum switching valve. Repair cost was about 140€. Everything is back to normal now.
