Kadjar check engine light and high fuel consumption

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2016 Renault Kadjar (gasoline engine). Lately, the check engine light has been on, and I've noticed my fuel consumption is way higher than usual. Also, the engine is idling unevenly. Could a defective knock sensor be the problem?

I also own a Kadjar and have experienced something similar. In my case, the malfunction indicator lamp was illuminated, and the idling was erratic. Have you checked the cable and plug connections of the knock sensor? A faulty connection can often trigger these symptoms.

Thanks for the quick reply! Where exactly is the knock sensor located, and how can I check the cable and plug connections? I'm not very experienced with auto repair, but I'm willing to give it a try before going to a workshop.

While I appreciate your proactive approach, tampering with engine components without proper expertise can lead to further complications. Based on the symptoms and considering that the cable or plug connection is likely defective, it is advisable to consult a qualified mechanic. The eventual repair cost totalled approximately 95€ in my experience. This is intended as information, not a recommendation to perform maintenance yourself.

Okay, thanks for the detailed feedback! I'll take your advice and bring it to a workshop. Hopefully, it's just the knock sensor cable like you suggested!
