Considering the complexity and potential impact on engine performance, my recommendation would be to consult a qualified mechanic. It is quite difficult to resolve yourself. I ended up paying 425€ at the workshop to get it fixed, but it solved the problem.

I had a similar issue with my Kadjar. The symptoms you describe mirror my experience. Is the engine's behavior similar to a tap running dry because it cannot draw enough water?
