Kadjar Start Stop Failure

I'm having an issue with my 2016 Renault Kadjar gasoline. It has about 194714 km. The start-stop system isn't working. The engine shuts off unexpectedly, and I get an error message and a warning light. I think the battery might be bad. Anyone else have this problem with their Kadjar?

Hey. Yeah, start-stop problems are pretty common, especially as batteries age. A weak battery is the usual suspect, you're right. Have you tried checking the battery voltage? Also, does the engine stall happen only when the start-stop should be kicking in, or does it happen randomly while you're driving?

Thanks. I haven't measured the battery voltage directly. The engine stall has only occurred when the start-stop system is engaged; otherwise, the engine runs fine. Does this help?

Okay, the fact it's only happening with start-stop engaged definitely points to the battery or the system itself. It could be something like the starter motor is struggling a bit because of the weak battery too, even though it's enough to start normally. Honestly, at that mileage, it's probably best to get it checked out by a workshop, especially if you're not comfortable testing the battery yourself. They can properly diagnose the issue and see if it's just a battery or something more complicated.

I appreciate your input. I will get the vehicle inspected at a workshop. It seems a comprehensive diagnostic review is warranted. I'm being told it will likely be around 290€. Thanks again.
