Kadjar uneven engine running
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Renault Kadjar with a gasoline engine is experiencing uneven running, a check engine light, and jerking during acceleration. Possible causes include bad spark plugs, a faulty ignition coil, a crankshaft sensor issue, or a fuel injector problem. An exhaust leak is also suggested as a potential cause, which is confirmed after a workshop inspection and repair. The engine runs smoothly again after fixing the exhaust leak.

An exhaust leak, eh? I haven't noticed any obvious hissing or anything. But the exhaust fumes do smell a bit stronger than usual. Where exactly should I be looking for this leak? Is it something I can check myself, or am I better off taking it to a workshop?

With exhaust leaks, it's often tricky to pinpoint the exact location without proper tools. However, a stronger exhaust smell is definitely a sign. Given the error codes and jerking, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They can perform a smoke test to identify any leaks precisely. Prevention is always better than cure.

Thanks for the advice! You were spot on; it turned out to be a leak in the exhaust system, just like you suspected. The workshop found it in no time and fixed it for 265€. The engine is running smoothly again. Cheers!

Uneven running and a check engine light can be a pain. Did you ever experience anything like rough idle alongside the other symptoms? I had a similar issue with my old Opel Insignia; it turned out to be a leak in the exhaust system. Could be worth checking for that.
