Kalos Belt Handover Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Chevrolet Kalos owner is experiencing issues with the belt handover, suspecting the belt tensioner as the cause. Another owner confirms similar past issues, suggesting that a faulty belt tensioner can lead to belt problems. The recommended solution is to have the tensioner replaced at a workshop, as it can be challenging to handle independently.

That's interesting! When you say 'similar,' are we talking the same symptoms? Did your belt tensioner completely give up, like mine seems to have done? Or was it more of a gradual decline?

Yep, pretty much the same deal. Belt started acting up, and it turned out the tensioner was shot. If your belt-handover is completely gone, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. Those things can be tricky to replace properly.

Appreciate the input! Workshop it is. Just got a quote for around 455€, so it looks like I'll be lighter in the wallet soon. Thanks for confirming my suspicions!

Sounds familiar. I've got a Chevrolet Kalos myself, and I had something similar happen a while back. Is the belt tensioner giving you trouble? Maybe causing the belt to slip?
