Kalos check engine light and incorrect vehicle coding
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Chevrolet Kalos is experiencing a persistent check engine light and error messages on the infotainment system and speedometer, likely due to incorrect vehicle coding. Attempts to reset the codes with a scan tool have been unsuccessful. A similar issue in another vehicle required professional recoding of the control module to resolve the problem. It is suggested to have the vehicle checked by a professional to address the coding issue.

Yeah, I tried resetting the codes with the scan tool, but the errors keep coming back. Did resetting work for you, or did you have to do something else with the Astra?

Nah, resetting didn't fix it long term for me. The errors kept popping up. Ended up having to take it to a workshop; they told me the control module needed some recoding. So, I'd suggest biting the bullet and getting it checked properly.

Thanks! I was hoping to avoid a trip to the mechanic, but it sounds like you're right. I'll get it booked in. They re-coded something and it now works again, cost me 360€.

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra. It threw all sorts of crazy errors after a battery change. Have you tried resetting the codes? Maybe the system just needs a kick.
