Kalos Engine Stalling at Idle
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Chevrolet Kalos is experiencing engine stalling at idle, a check engine light, reduced power, and decreased fuel economy. The problem is suspected to be a defective fuel volume regulator, potentially linked to a faulty high-pressure pump. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle diagnosed by a professional workshop to confirm the issue and prevent further damage. The diagnosis confirmed the defective fuel volume regulator and faulty high-pressure pump, leading to necessary repairs.

Yes, fuel economy has taken a hit, and sometimes it feels like the engine is misfiring. If it was a fuel volume regulator issue, what did you do to fix it?

In my situation, the symptoms were virtually identical. I suggest checking with a trusted workshop. They will be able to properly diagnose and provide a definitive solution to address the root cause of the problem. Do not wait too long otherwise other components may be damaged.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and the diagnosis was indeed a defective fuel volume regulator, which likely stemmed from a faulty high-pressure pump. The repair cost came out to 1510€. Appreciate the help!

I had similar issues with my Kalos. Rough idling and reduced power are definitely frustrating. Does it seem like you're getting worse fuel economy than usual, and is there any sign of engine misfire? It may be due to high pressure pump defective or other issues.
