Kangoo Active Hood Fault

I've got a 2007 Renault Kangoo, diesel engine, and this weird 'Active hood fault' message keeps popping up on the display. The airbag light's on too. I plugged it into a reader, and it's throwing up some error about the spring actuators being triggered. Mileage is 139608 km. Any ideas? Seems like a safety system thing gone haywire. Feels like when your smoke detector starts beeping for no reason.

The 'Active hood fault' message coupled with the airbag warning and triggered actuators does indeed suggest a problem with the pedestrian impact safety system. Do you know if the error code specifically mentions the acceleration sensor? Also, have you noticed any other unusual electrical behavior in the car?

Thanks for the reply! I think the code pointed towards the acceleration sensor. I haven't noticed anything else unusual, though. Is the acceleration sensor something like a fuse I could check myself, or is it more complex than that?

The acceleration sensor is not akin to a simple fuse. It's a more sophisticated component integrated into the vehicle's safety system. Considering the symptoms and error codes, a defective acceleration sensor is the likely culprit. Given the complexity of the system and potential safety implications, I strongly recommend consulting a qualified workshop for diagnosis and repair.

Appreciate the advice. I took it to the shop, and you were spot on – it was the acceleration sensor. Cost me 315€ to get it sorted. Glad it's fixed, though.
