Kangoo Automatic Transmission Problems

My 2006 Renault Kangoo diesel's automatic transmission is acting up at 219360 km. The transmission light's on, and it's not shifting right, often going into emergency mode. Could old transmission oil be the problem?

Sounds familiar! My old Opel Astra had similar transmission issues after the battery died a few times. The car went crazy! Have you checked your car's voltage? Low voltage can cause weird electrical problems in modern cars that seem like transmission issues. Is the battery in good shape?

Absolutely! Low voltage messed up my transmission control unit. It's worth checking before you assume the worst. But, you might need a shop visit. I needed to have the TCU software reflashed after fixing the voltage problem.

Thanks for the low voltage tip. Turns out, the car did have undervoltage. After fixing that, the transmission control unit needed reprogramming. The repair cost 240€.
