Kangoo battery draining speedometer error

I'm experiencing a frustrating issue with my 2020 Renault Kangoo diesel. It has 185064 km on the clock. Recently, I've noticed the battery seems to be draining excessively. The speedometer displays an error message, the lights are weak and flickering, and the engine struggles to start due to a weak battery. The error memory also stores an error related to low voltage. I suspect a parasitic drain, but I'm not sure where to start looking.

Sounds like a proper headache! Weak lights and error messages are never a good sign. Have you had the battery tested? It could simply be a dead cell. If the battery is fine, then yeah, a parasitic draw is likely. Any aftermarket electronics installed?

I had the battery tested, and it showed a full charge, but the technician mentioned something about a possible issue with the battery sensor. Could a faulty sensor cause the described symptoms, even with a fully charged battery?

Ah, the battery sensor! Those things can cause havoc. Yes, a defective battery sensor can absolutely cause those symptoms. The ECU relies on that sensor to properly manage charging. If it's sending incorrect data, it'll mess everything up. I'd say get it checked out ASAP. Probably best to visit a workshop and have them diagnose it properly.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on – it was indeed the battery sensor. Replacing it cost me 315€, but everything seems to be working fine now. Appreciate the help!
