Kangoo central locking and antenna issue

I'm having trouble with my 2014 Renault Kangoo, gasoline engine, with 183189 km. I'm getting an error, and the central locking is acting up. Plus, I can't start the engine unless the key is in the ignition. I suspect a bad cable or plug to the bumper antenna. Anyone seen this before? Workshop quoted 95€ for the repair.

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Kangoo. Is your FM reception also completely shot? 'Cause mine was. I bet your car thinks it's being stolen, hence the ignition thing. Definitely sounds like antenna woes!

Yep, the FM reception is very poor. Sounds like a faulty antenna. Did you have the same symptoms – central locking malfunction and key-in-ignition – from an antenna issue? Any details on how you fixed it?

Yep, pretty much exactly the same. The central locking going bonkers was the first sign. I messed around trying to find a short in the wiring, but honestly, it was a pain. Eventually, I caved and took it to a workshop. They confirmed the antenna module was fried. Best bet is probably bite the bullet and get it sorted professionally.

Thanks for confirming. Looks like a workshop visit is needed. I appreciate the insight and will get the bumper antenna and connections checked and replaced. I'll post the outcome for others.
