Kangoo cold start issue

My 2004 Renault Kangoo diesel runs poorly during cold starts, and there's an error stored. Fuel consumption is also higher than usual. Could this be a defective electric auxiliary heater (PTC)? Mileage is 115789 km.

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms in my Kangoo. Cold air and rough running until it warmed up a bit. Check your PTC heater; it's like a toaster element for your coolant.

Thanks. Did you also have an electrical fault code stored? Was the replacement complex?

Yes, the fault code pointed directly to the heater. Replacing it isn't too hard, but I'd suggest getting a workshop to do it. It is after all an electrical fault.

Appreciate the advice. I had it checked, and the auxiliary heater was indeed the culprit. Repair cost was around 350€. Runs smoothly now, thanks again!
