Kangoo crankcase ventilation issue

My 2020 Renault Kangoo diesel is acting up. The check engine light is on, and it feels like it's lost power. Plus, I'm seeing smoke when I accelerate. I've read online it might be something to do with the crankcase ventilation, maybe a PCV valve issue? My mileage is at 244033 km. Anyone else experience this?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Kangoo. Symptoms sound the same. Is it also idling a bit rough? It could be a leak in the crankcase ventilation system. The PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve can cause those problems when it fails. It's part of the engine's emissions control, routing gases from the crankcase back into the intake.

Rough idle, yes! How did you figure it out, and what did you do to fix it?

Pretty sure it's the crankcase ventilation valve. If the engine is struggling like that I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. If it is the valve, expect to pay around 360€.

Thanks so much for the help! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on – the crankcase ventilation valve needed replacing. Runs like a dream now!
