Kangoo engine power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Renault Kangoo is experiencing engine power loss and a check engine light. Possible causes include issues with the throttle valve, accelerator pedal module, or throttle sensor. Erratic idling and delayed acceleration suggest a throttle sensor fault, which was resolved in a similar case by replacing the sensor. The problem was ultimately traced to faulty electronics in the accelerator pedal module, which was repaired.

Thanks. Yes, I've seen both erratic idling and a delay when accelerating. I haven't checked the air intake yet, but I will. What happened with yours? Did replacing the throttle valve fix it, or was there more to it?

Well, after a lot of head-scratching, I took it to a workshop. The throttle sensor was faulty and sending bad signals to the ECU. I tried cleaning the throttle body first, but it didn't last. Replacing the sensor fixed it properly. Getting it diagnosed is worth it.

Thanks, that's helpful. I'll talk to a mechanic about the throttle sensor. Turns out, the accelerator pedal module electronics were bad, and I had it repaired for 265€.

Interesting. I've got a Kangoo, too. Sounds similar to what happened to me a while back. The engine felt like it was breathing through a straw, and the check engine light was always on. Any issues with engine idling, or a delay when you press the accelerator? Have you checked the air intake for obstructions?
