Kangoo fuel filter heater issue

I'm having issues with my 2002 Renault Kangoo diesel (225648 km). I'm getting an error related to the fuel filter heater. Symptoms include reduced engine power, poor engine response, higher fuel consumption, and an uneven idle. Could a defective cable or plug connection be the problem, and has anyone else encountered this?

I've had similar issues with my Kangoo. Reduced power and rough idle sound familiar. Did you check the fuel lines for any blockages or leaks? Or maybe the fuel filter itself is just clogged?

I haven't checked the fuel lines directly, but I did replace the fuel filter recently. Could a faulty fuel filter heater really cause such significant performance issues, and would that necessarily mean replacing the whole unit?

Yes, the heater can definitely cause those problems if it's malfunctioning. If the wiring is fine as you suspected, it may be best to just take it to a workshop if you are not comfortable testing the heater element yourself. I took mine in, and it was quickly diagnosed.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions and the advice. I checked the wiring and the plug, but the problem remains. I'll schedule an appointment with a workshop. The diagnosis indicates the cable or plug connection of the component is defective. Repair cost will be around 95€
