Kangoo knock sensor issue

My 2004 Renault Kangoo (gasoline engine, 197216 km) has the check engine light on, increased fuel consumption, and uneven idling. Diagnostics point to a defective knock sensor. I suspect a faulty cable or plug connection. Anyone else encountered this?

Sounds familiar. I've got a Kangoo too. Had similar symptoms – check engine light, poor performance. It could be the sensor itself, but definitely check the wiring first. A damaged wire can cause ignition timing headaches.

Thanks. Can you elaborate on 'wiring'? Did you find specific points of failure or damage to look for? I'm trying to avoid replacing the sensor unnecessarily if it's just a connection issue.

Well, the cable or plug connection of the component might be defective. I'm no mechanic, I just took it to a workshop to get it fixed.

Understood. Thanks! I'll check the wiring thoroughly, but a workshop visit might be inevitable. Just got a quote for 95€, so I'll go with it.
