Kangoo Poor Starting

My 2005 diesel Kangoo has increased fuel consumption and struggles to start, especially in the mornings. I cleaned the throttle body, but it didn't help. Could it be a defective throttle valve? Has anyone had a similar issue?

I had almost the exact same problem with my Kangoo: higher fuel consumption and poor starting. I would check the accelerator pedal module. It controls the throttle position, and if it's sending bad signals, that could explain your symptoms. Has the engine management light come on?

The engine management light did come on a few times, but it disappeared after restarting the engine. I suspected a control valve issue, but wasn't sure. Where is the accelerator pedal module located, and is it something I can check myself, or should I just take it to a mechanic?

If the light came on and off, it points more and more to the accelerator pedal module. Honestly, unless you're comfortable with car electrics, I'd suggest going to a workshop. It could be a faulty module or just a bad connection, but they'll be able to diagnose it properly and replace it if needed. I'm pretty sure it's the issue though. Save yourself the headache.

I took your advice and went to the workshop. Turns out, the accelerator pedal module was indeed defective. They replaced it, and the car is now running smoothly again. The repair cost me 205€, but it was worth it. I really appreciate your help!
