Kicks Active Hood Fault

I've got a 2022 Nissan Kicks with a gasoline engine and about 171k km on it. Recently, I've been getting an "Active hood fault" message on the dash. The airbag light is also on, and I pulled the error codes – plus the spring actuators keep triggering randomly. Anyone else seen this? I'm guessing a faulty acceleration sensor?

I had something similar happen in my Kicks. That active hood system is tied into the crash detection, and it sounds like the system thinks you are constantly in a crash situation. Is your hood latch damaged in any way?

Interesting. No visible damage to the hood latch or anything else obvious. Was it the acceleration sensor in your case too? What did you end up doing about it?

Yeah, it ended up being a bad sensor. The whole system is overly sensitive, like a nervous chihuahua. Get it checked at a workshop, as messing with airbag systems and the active hood stuff can be risky.

Thanks for the heads up! Turns out it was the acceleration sensor just like we suspected, though I wouldn't have known about the chihuahua sensitivity without your comment. Got it replaced for 315€. All good now.
