Koleos AC failure
Summary of the thread
The 2012 Renault Koleos is experiencing an AC failure, with a speedometer warning and an error related to the refrigerant compressor. Initial checks of the fuses did not resolve the issue. Possible causes include a faulty compressor clutch relay, low refrigerant pressure, or a defective AC control unit. It is recommended to have the vehicle professionally diagnosed to accurately identify and address the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply! No weird noises, and I don't have the tools to check the refrigerant pressure myself. Where exactly is the compressor clutch relay located? Is it easy to get to and test?

Okay, no weird noises is… something, at least. Honestly, without the tools to check the pressure, you're kinda stuck. And finding the relay can be a pain, it's buried in the engine bay. Given the symptoms, it could also be a faulty AC control unit, which is a common problem on these. I ended up taking mine to a shop; they diagnosed it as a defective AC control unit and replaced it. Cost me around 980€. Probably best to get it properly diagnosed before throwing parts at it.

Appreciate the advice. Sounds like I'm in over my head. I'll take it to a trusted workshop and get it diagnosed properly. Hopefully, it's not too expensive. Thanks again!

I had something similar happen with my Koleos. The AC just stopped. Do you hear any weird noises from the compressor area when you turn on the AC? Also, did you check the refrigerant pressure? Low pressure can sometimes cause the compressor to not kick in. In my case, the compressor clutch relay was faulty. Might be worth looking into.
