Koleos diesel engine issues
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Renault Koleos diesel is experiencing engine issues, including a check engine light, reduced power, stalling at idle, increased fuel consumption, and unusual noises like whistling and hissing during acceleration. The suspected cause is a problem with the boost pressure system, potentially involving the wastegate valve. Suggested solutions include checking for turbo lag, inspecting the throttle body, and examining the pressure sensor connected to the turbocharger, with a recommendation to have the vehicle diagnosed by a professional workshop.

Turbo lag is definitely there, and that whistling noise is getting louder. Where exactly should I be looking for this pressure sensor? Is it easy to get to?

If the turbo lag is noticeable and the whistling is getting worse, it points more towards a turbo issue. I'd recommend getting it checked by a workshop. They'll be able to diagnose the exact cause. It could be a defect in the wastegate valve which is connected to the turbocharger. I ended up paying 860€ for the repair when mine failed.

860€, ouch! Thanks for the heads-up; I'll book it in with a local shop. At least I have a better idea of what to expect. Fingers crossed it's just the wastegate valve, and not the whole turbocharger.

I had something similar with my Koleos. The symptoms sound very familiar: check engine, reduced power, and a strange whistling. Have you checked for any turbo lag or issues with the throttle body? It could also be a faulty pressure sensor connected to the turbocharger.
