Koleos Electrical Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Renault Koleos diesel with 170,000 km is experiencing poor starting, suspected to be due to a heavily discharged or defective battery. The issue was diagnosed as a Terminal 30 continuous plus interruption. Suggestions included checking for voltage drops, particularly around the ignition switch and charging system, and considering a potential short causing battery drain. The problem was resolved at a workshop, confirming a faulty battery and a parasitic draw in the system.

Voltage drop, huh? That's a good point. Where exactly should I be looking for that? Ignition switch maybe, or should I be tracing the whole wiring harness?

Yeah, I'd check the easy stuff first. Ignition switch and charging system are prime suspects. Honestly, though, chasing shorts can be a pain. If you're not seeing anything obvious, might be worth getting it to a workshop before you tear everything apart.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. Took it to a shop as you suggested. Turns out it was a faulty battery, like I suspected, but also a parasitic draw somewhere in the system. They sorted both out. Total cost was 290€. Thanks again for your help!

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old Peugeot a while back. Intermittent starting issues drove me nuts. Have you checked for a voltage drop anywhere? Could be a short somewhere pulling the battery down.
