Koleos fuel consumption and power loss

Hey, I'm having serious issues with my 2014 Renault Koleos gasoline engine. It's got about 144949 km on it. Lately, the fuel consumption has gone way up, and it feels like I'm not getting the power I used to. The engine sometimes stalls when I'm idling, which is super annoying, and I've noticed some smoke coming out when I accelerate. I've checked for any obvious leaks, and the air filter looks clean, but I'm stumped. Could this be a fuel injection problem? I'm not sure where to start, any ideas?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my Koleos a while back. High fuel consumption, loss of power... it felt like driving through molasses! Did you check the cable and plug connections to the fuel injectors? A loose connection there could cause problems.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't specifically checked the cable and plug connections to the fuel injectors. I'm not super experienced with car repairs. Is it something relatively easy to access and check, or am I likely to mess something up if I start poking around? Are there any telltale signs of a bad connection? I really want to fix the power and fuel consumption issues.

Accessing the injectors can vary depending on your engine layout, so I can't say for sure how easy it'll be. But if you're not comfortable with it, I'd honestly recommend taking it to a workshop. It's worth it to avoid accidentally causing more damage. My issue turned out to be a defective plug connection. The garage charged me 95€ to fix it, and it solved all the problems.

Okay, thanks so much for the advice! I think I'll take it to a mechanic. Knowing that it could be a simple connection issue with the fuel injectors makes me feel a bit better about the whole thing. Hopefully, it's a similar fix for me. I will let you know!
