Koleos Gear Shift Indicator Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Renault Koleos owner is experiencing a gear shift indicator failure, leading to transmission issues such as difficulty engaging gears, unclean shifts, slipping, and grinding noises. The gear selection display is blank, and an error code is present, suggesting a defective control unit as the likely cause. Another owner with similar issues recommends having the vehicle checked at a workshop, as it may indeed be a control unit problem.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Thanks for the quick reply! The rest of the instrument panel seems to be working fine. All the other displays – speed, fuel level, etc. – are normal. It's just the gear selection indicator that's gone dark. Did you have the same symptoms, like the transmission problems and error codes?

Yep, pretty much the same. Intermittent gear selection display, followed by the transmission acting weird. I'd suggest getting it checked at a workshop; it does indeed sound like a control unit problem.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! Knowing that someone else had the same issue and that it likely points to the control unit is helpful. I’ll book it into the workshop.

Hey, that sounds rough! I've had something similar happen with my Koleos. Is the instrument panel also acting up, or just the gear indicator? It could point to a broader electronic issue.
