Koleos SRS light illuminated

My 2014 Renault Koleos, gasoline engine, has a persistent SRS light on the speedometer. The vehicle has 164399 km on the clock. I've checked the fuses and attempted a reset using an OBDII scanner, but the error code reappears immediately. The scanner points to a generic 'airbag system failure'. Any ideas before I start probing deeper?

I had a similar issue with my Koleos. The SRS light would come on intermittently, eventually becoming permanent. Have you checked the wiring and connectors under the seats? The pretensioner circuits are often the culprit. Specifically, look for loose connections or corrosion on the plugs. A high-resistance connection can trigger the fault.

Thanks for the tip. Which component’s connector was faulty on your car? I've wiggled the connectors under the seats, but the light persists. Also, did the diagnostic tool point to a specific airbag sensor, or just a general system fault?

The diagnostic tool also gave me a generic system fault. Given the persistent nature of your issue and the checks you've already performed, it is likely a defective cable or plug connection. I recommend taking it to a workshop and asking them to check the wiring harness that goes to the airbags and pretensioners. I had it done for 95€.

Appreciate the insight. A defective cable or plug connection sounds plausible. I'll take it to the shop and get them to check the wiring harness as you suggested. Hopefully, that resolves the issue.
