Kona AC Undervoltage
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Hyundai Kona diesel with 102,155 km had an A/C issue where it wouldn't switch on, blowing hot air, with an error indicating undervoltage affecting the A/C compressor. Possible causes considered included the belt tensioner, AC relay, relay switch, or pressure sensor. After checking fuses and seeking advice, the problem was traced to a faulty relay and a dodgy connection, which were fixed at a workshop.

Good shout! I haven't specifically checked the compressor clutch engagement. How would I check that? Visually, or is there a more reliable way?

Visually is usually enough. See if the center part of the compressor pulley is spinning when the A/C is switched on. If it's not, and you've checked the fuses, you're likely looking at either a bad relay or a faulty compressor. Honestly, I'd just take it to a workshop; chasing electrical gremlins can be a nightmare.

Thanks! I took your advice and went to the workshop. It was a voltage issue, like the error code suggested. They traced it to a dodgy connection and replaced a faulty relay. Cost me 240€, but at least it's fixed!

Kona A/C issues are the worst! I had something similar happen with my Kona. A/C just quit. Did you check the A/C compressor clutch? Is it engaging at all?
