Kona Belt Tensioner Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Hyundai Kona diesel experienced a belt tensioner failure at 115,201 km, indicated by an intermittent belt squeal and possible performance drops. The defective belt bringer or handover might be the cause. The solution involved replacing the belt tensioner, which was confirmed necessary after consulting with others who had similar issues.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

There was an intermittent belt squeal for some time before the failure. And yes, I'm starting to suspect possible drops in performance, but it's hard to say for sure. Did you experience the same?

Yep, sounds almost identical. The squeal was the giveaway for me, followed by a gradual decline in how smoothly the engine ran. I'd suggest getting it checked out soon, as it could lead to bigger problems. Probably not something you can fix yourself.

Your comments confirm my suspicions. It seems a visit to the workshop is unavoidable. The repair was indeed a new belt tensioner. The final cost was 455€.

Hey, I've got a Kona too, though its year is a bit different. Sounds like you're dealing with a similar problem I had. Was there any noticeable belt squeal, or changes in your engine's performance before this happened?
