Kona engine check light and smoke
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Hyundai Kona owner is experiencing an engine check light, reduced engine power, and smoke during acceleration. The issue might be related to a malfunctioning crankcase ventilation valve, also known as the PCV valve. A similar problem was resolved by replacing the PCV valve, and it is recommended to have a workshop diagnose and fix the issue.

Yes, actually, it does sound a bit rough! What did you do about your Opel Astra, if I may ask?

I replaced the PCV valve. But honestly, the repair was a bit beyond my skills. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They should be able to diagnose it quickly, and the cost shouldn't be too high, around 360€ I guess.

Thank you very much! I am very relieved to hear I am not alone and what could be the problem. I'll take it to the workshop and hope it's 'just' the crankcase ventilation. Thank you for the tip and help!

Hey, that sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra. Same symptoms: check engine light and smoke. Turned out to be the PCV valve. Does the engine also sound a bit rough? Like it's struggling to keep up?
