Kona GPS Reception Issue

Esteemed Hyundai Community, I am writing to you today with a rather perplexing issue concerning my 2020 Hyundai Kona Hybrid. The vehicle has diligently served me for 174763 km, but I've recently encountered a persistent error related to the GPS navigation system. Specifically, the system reports 'No GPS reception,' and an error is stored in the error memory. From my preliminary diagnostics, it appears the GPS antenna may be defective. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue with their Kona? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I commit to a repair.

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Hyundai Kona Hybrid owner is experiencing a 'No GPS reception' error, suspecting a defective GPS antenna. A fellow Kona driver suggests checking the antenna connection, typically located under the shark fin on the roof, but advises that if the reception is completely gone, it might be best to have it professionally diagnosed and replaced. The owner decides to proceed with a workshop visit for a comprehensive diagnosis and antenna replacement.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey there! I drive a Kona too and had something similar happen a while back. Was the reception completely gone, or just really weak and unreliable? Mine was all over the place before it finally gave up the ghost. Did you check the connection to the antenna itself? It might just be loose.

Thank you for your swift response! In my case, the reception is completely absent; the navigation system is unable to establish any satellite connection whatsoever. Regarding the antenna connection, could you elaborate on its location and the process for checking it? I wish to attempt this inspection before seeking professional assistance.

Yeah, mine ended up being a dead antenna, too. I wouldn't bother messing with it too much if it's totally gone. The antenna is usually under the shark fin on the roof, but honestly, getting to it is a pain. You're probably better off just taking it to a workshop. They can diagnose it properly and replace the antenna. It's not a super expensive fix.

I appreciate your confirmation and guidance. Based on your experience, I shall proceed directly to a trusted workshop for a comprehensive diagnosis and antenna replacement. They quoted approximately 200€ for the repair, which seems reasonable. Thank you once again for sharing your insights; it has been most helpful in charting the optimal course of action.
