Kubistar boost pressure issue
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Nissan Kubistar with a gasoline engine is experiencing reduced engine power, poor response, a whistling noise, and increased fuel consumption, with the check engine light on. The suspected cause is a boost pressure actuator fault, possibly due to a defective electrical bypass valve. The issue was resolved by replacing the faulty actuator, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Thanks for the quick reply! I visually inspected the hoses and connections, but didn't find anything obvious. Which specific areas around the turbo wastegate should I focus on? And how did you eventually resolve the issue on your Kubistar?

Well, in my case, it turned out to be exactly what you suspected: the boost pressure actuator. I messed around trying to find a leak but I eventually gave up and took it to a workshop. They confirmed it pretty quickly. Considering all your symptoms, I think it's best you have it checked out before it gets worse.

Thanks a lot for your help! I took it to my local mechanic, and after checking it seems the electrical bypass valve was indeed faulty, as I initially thought. They replaced the actuator, and it cost me around 250€. The Kubistar is running smoothly again. I appreciate your advice!

Hey, I also have a Kubistar. Your symptoms sound familiar! I had a similar issue with mine a while back. Did you check for any obvious boost leaks or actuator issues around the turbocharger? That whistling and hissing sound like a boost leak for sure. The loss of power and poor response would definitely point that way too.
