Kuga damping adjustment error

I'm having trouble with my 2010 Ford Kuga gasoline, which has about 246950 km on it. I'm getting an error related to the damping adjustment. The error memory has a fault stored, and the speedometer shows a warning light. The ride is also noticeably bumpier than usual. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Summary of the thread

The 2010 Ford Kuga is experiencing a damping adjustment error, resulting in a warning light on the speedometer and a bumpier ride. The issue is likely related to the suspension system's electronic controls, possibly due to a defective or corroded plug connection. It is recommended to have the vehicle inspected by a qualified workshop to address the problem safely, which was confirmed and resolved by repairing the plug connection.

I also own a Kuga, though not the same year. Your symptoms sound awfully familiar to an issue I had not too long ago. A bumpy ride along with a damping adjustment error often points to a problem with the suspension system's electronic controls. Have you had the car scanned for specific fault codes, and did you check the cable or plug connections of the component? A defective connection could very well be the culprit, as they can corrode or loosen over time.

Yes, I did get it scanned, and it pointed to the damping adjustment. I haven't checked the connections myself yet. Where exactly should I be looking for these connections you mentioned? I am not very mechanically inclined.

Since you've confirmed the fault code points to the damping adjustment, it's highly probable that the issue lies within the electronic components of the suspension. While I commend your willingness to investigate, given your experience level, fiddling with the suspension's electronics without proper knowledge could lead to further complications or even personal injury. It involves dealing with sensitive sensors and actuators that control the damping force. I would strongly suggest taking it to a qualified workshop. Better safe than sorry!

I think I'll take it to a workshop to get it checked out. The mechanic confirmed it was a defective plug connection, and the repair cost me 95€. Now the car is running fine.
