Kuga Electronic Parking Brake Failure

I've got a 2013 Ford Kuga, diesel engine, with a dodgy electronic parking brake. The handbrake's completely dead, an error's popped up, and there's a warning light on. My mileage is at 160313 km. Could it be the motor?

Summary of the thread

A 2013 Ford Kuga with a diesel engine experienced a failure in the electronic parking brake, indicated by an error message and warning light. The issue was suspected to be related to the motor in the brake caliper. After consulting with others who had similar experiences, it was confirmed that the problem was indeed a defective motor in the brake caliper, which required professional repair.

Sounds familiar! I had the exact same symptoms on my old Opel. Electronic parking brake failure, same warning lights, the whole shebang. Was it also, potentially, the motor?

Thanks, that helps, so not just me then. What eventually solved the issue on your Opel? Was it a straightforward fix?

Well, I started looking at brake switches and sensors, but it became pretty clear that I was out of my depth. Eventually it was confirmed that it was a defective motor in the brake caliper. I’d suggest bite the bullet and get it checked out.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to the shop, you called it - electric motor in the brake caliper was indeed defective. Total cost 505€. Appreciate the help diagnosing it.
