Kuga Engine Running Lean
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Ford Kuga with a gasoline engine is experiencing lean running, reduced power, a check engine light, rough running, and jerking during acceleration. The initial suspicion is a defective injection valve or injector. Suggestions include checking the throttle body for carbon buildup and inspecting the oxygen sensor. Ultimately, replacing defective fuel injectors resolved the issue, restoring smooth engine performance.

Thanks! I haven't checked the throttle body or the oxygen sensor yet. Are these components known to fail frequently in the Kuga? Did cleaning/replacing them fix your issue?

Cleaning the throttle body didn't fully resolve the problem for me. I'd recommend having a workshop check the fuel injectors. Replacing them cost me 515€, but the issue disappeared completely afterwards.

Based on your recommendation, I had the fuel injectors inspected, and they were indeed defective. After replacement, the engine now runs smoothly, and the symptoms have vanished entirely. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

I had similar symptoms on my Kuga. Have you checked the throttle body for carbon buildup? A dirty throttle body can restrict airflow and cause lean running. Also, when was the last time you checked your oxygen sensor?
