Kuga Exhaust Temperature Sensor Fault

I'm having a nightmare with my 2018 Ford Kuga gasoline. The check engine light is on, power is severely reduced, and my fuel consumption has gone through the roof. I'm getting error codes pointing to a faulty exhaust temperature sensor. I've checked for obvious wiring issues, but everything looks fine. I suspect a leak in the exhaust system might be the culprit. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, what was the fix? I'm at 171165 km and this is becoming a serious issue.

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had a similar thing happen with my Kuga. Check engine light, sluggish performance... the whole shebang. Was it only the sensor, or did other things go wrong?

Interesting! So, what was the resolution for you? Was it just a faulty sensor, or was there something else involved, like a leak that triggered it?

Turned out to be a small crack in the exhaust manifold near the sensor. The garage spotted it pretty quickly. Replacing the sensor alone wouldn't have fixed it. You really need to get a proper smoke test done. My mechanic replaced the sensor and fixed the leak, I strongly suggest going to the workshop!

Thanks a lot for the tip! That's exactly what it was – a tiny crack near the sensor. Replaced the sensor and had the exhaust leak welded. Total cost was 265€. Runs like new now!
