Kuga Hybrid Engine Start Failure

Experiencing a weird issue with my 2021 Ford Kuga Hybrid. 67k km on the clock. The engine refuses to start. No cranking, just silence. Battery voltage seems fine, fuses look good. OBD scanner throws an 'engine control malfunction' code. Any ideas before I call a tow truck?

Sounds frustrating! Had similar gremlins with my old Renault Megane. Have you checked the cable connections of the battery? Sometimes a loose or corroded connection can cause all sorts of electrical weirdness, especially with modern cars and their sensitive electronics. It's like a bad earth in an amp, killing the whole system!

Interesting, thanks for the tip! I did a quick visual inspection of the battery terminals, and they seemed clean and tight. But maybe I need to be more thorough. When you had the issue with your Megane, did the connections also appear okay at first glance, or was it something more subtle?

They looked alright at first. It was only when I gave them a proper wiggle that I noticed one was a bit loose. Enough to cut the power, but not enough to be obvious. Still I would let it check by a professional in a workshop, just to be sure!

Just wanted to give you a massive thanks! You were spot on about the battery connections being the issue. Took it to the shop, and they confirmed one of the terminals wasn't making proper contact. They cleaned everything up and tightened it, and now it starts like a charm again! 155€ out of my pocket, but it's running again! Thanks again for your help!
