Kuga Hybrid Knocking Combustion

My 2021 Ford Kuga Hybrid (44393 km) engine seems to be suffering from knocking combustion. Symptoms include reduced engine power, jerking during acceleration, and noticeable smoke upon acceleration. An error is also stored. Assessment suggests possible deposits in the combustion chamber, but further investigation is warranted. Any insights regarding potential causes and diagnostic strategies, particularly concerning engine tuning, ignition timing, fuel octane requirements, or the possibility of engine knock or piston slap in this engine type?

I had similar symptoms with my Kuga. It could be bad fuel. Have you checked the fuel quality or tried a higher octane rating? Any recent work done on the engine?

I haven't specifically tested the fuel quality, but I consistently use the recommended octane. No recent engine work has been performed. Could this still point to fuel-related issues despite using the specified octane, or are there other potential causes I should investigate?

It's hard to say for sure without further diagnostics. But given the symptoms, especially the error code, there could be more going on than just fuel. I'd recommend getting it checked by a workshop. My issue required a complete engine cleaning.

I took it to a trusted workshop, and, as suspected, there were significant deposits in the combustion chamber. An engine cleaning and tuning resolved the issue. Total repair cost was 425€. Your input was invaluable.
