Kuga Hybrid MAF Sensor Issue

I'm seeing issues with my 2020 Ford Kuga Hybrid (58,673 km): higher fuel consumption, engine stalling at idle, check engine light, and smoke from the exhaust upon acceleration. I suspect a defective MAF sensor. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Oh my days, that sounds rough! I had something similar happen with my old Vauxhall Astra, although not a hybrid. Symptoms were all over the place. Higher fuel consumption? Check. Engine threatening to stall every time I stopped at lights? Double check. Dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree? Absolutely! Did you check the air filter? That was my first thought.

Thanks, I appreciate you sharing your Astra experience. I inspected the air filter, and it seems clean. Could you elaborate on the issue you encountered with your Astra, specifically the root cause and diagnostic steps?

Right, so the air filter was fine for me too. I spent ages trying to figure it out. In the end, it turned out the MAF sensor was completely shot. It was messing with the air-fuel ratio, hence all the fun and games. Honestly, with all those symptoms, especially the smoke, I'd just take it to a workshop. It's probably the MAF sensor, but best to get it checked properly.

Thanks for the info and recommendation. Replacing the MAF sensor resolved the symptoms. Total cost was 365€.
