Kuga key battery low warning

Hi, I have a 2011 Ford Kuga with a gasoline engine. I keep getting a 'key battery low' warning. Now the keyless access doesn't work anymore, and I found an error stored. Sometimes unlocking or locking is unreliable. Mileage is 45179 km. Could it just be the key battery?

Sounds familiar! I had the same thing happen with my old Renault Megane. Keyless entry packed in, and it kept throwing up errors. I thought it was something serious at first, like an immobilizer issue or something. Did you try the spare key?

Spare key works fine. But how did you solve the problem on your Megane?

Well, with the Megane it turned out to be exactly what the car was telling me – a flat battery in the key! I didn't believe it at first because the car was only 4 years old, but apparently, that's a common thing. I’d suggest getting it checked out at a workshop, they'll be able to tell you for sure and replace it if needed.

You were right. New battery in the key and all is working fine again. Cost me 37€. Thanks for the tip!
